A highly collectible and exceptionally rare pair of Guillemin & Soulaine convertible earrings, created in Paris, France (circa 1970) at the atelier of Société Guillemin et Soulaine. Crafted in solid 18k yellow gold with a high-polished finish and refined platinum elements for the diamond settings, they’re engineered with hinged French omega backs for clip wear and sliding wires for conversion, with posts easily added for pierced ears. The design is set with 40 diamonds: 28 pavé-set graduated round brilliant cuts totaling approximately 0.45 ctw (E/F color, VVS1 clarity) and 12 tapered baguette-cut diamonds totaling approximately 0.98 ctw (F color, VS1 clarity), delivering crisp, architectural brilliance. The pair weighs 20.4 g (13.07 dwt) and measures 34 x 15 mm (1.35 x 0.59 in). Stamped with French hallmarks including the eagle (18k gold) and dog (platinum), the maker’s maître mark Ste. G et S, and signed “G. SOULAINE OR .750 PT.” Notably scarce on the market, with documented appearances such as Artcurial Monte Carlo (July 19, 2022) where four pieces were offered (lots 575, 576, 577). Accompanied by a presentation jewelry box and preserved in excellent condition, showing only light normal wear, with all diamonds secure and the earrings carefully inspected to confirm authenticity.
