Magnificent Second Empire era convertible pendant-brooch, Paris, circa 1850–1860, crafted in solid 18K yellow gold with a thin silver-topped layer for the diamond settings, executed in refined neoclassical style. Features an unusually sophisticated removable mechanical brooch fitting at the reverse plus a discreet bail for pendant wear. Centered with an oval two-layer agate cameo (22 x 28 x 5mm) carved in relief with a Greco?Roman scene of a nymph dancing with flowers, framed by 145 calibrated European rose-cut diamonds totaling approx. 2.92 ctw and accented with two graduated natural round white pearls (approx. 5–7mm). Weight 24.2 grams; measures 70 x 40mm. French hallmarks including double eagle’s head for 18K gold and maker’s maitre cartouche. Very good conditions.
