Rare concealed “La Captive” squeeze travel/purse clock, Swiss-made circa 1928–1930 for Charlton & Co., featuring a clever shutter mechanism that hides the dial until opened via two lateral pushers. Rectangular sterling silver case with hard black enamel accents and crisp engine-turned geometric decoration; fitted with a Tavannes Watch Co. manual-wind movement, 15 jewels, calibre 816 (ref. 825925) with straight-line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, and index regulator. Square cream dial with gilt Arabic numerals and Breguet-style hands, signed Charlton & Co. Case serial 5819. Weight 55.35 grams (35.49 dwt); measures 47 x 33 x 32 mm when opened (1.85 x 1.30 x 1.26 inches). The overall condition of this travel clock is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver. All parts and the enamels are secured in the setting and in working order.
