Rare concealed “La Captive” squeeze travel/purse clock, Swiss-made circa 1928–1930 for Charlton & Co., featuring a clever shutter mechanism that hides the dial until opened via two lateral pushers. Rectangular sterling silver case with hard black enamel accents and crisp engine-turned geometric decoration; fitted with a Tavannes Watch Co. manual-wind movement, 15 jewels, calibre 816 (ref. 825925) with straight-line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, and index regulator. Square cream dial with gilt Arabic numerals and Breguet-style hands, signed Charlton & Co. Case serial 5819. Weight 55.35 grams (35.49 dwt); measures 47 x 33 x 32 mm when opened (1.85 x 1.30 x 1.26 inches).
Condition
