Beautiful and rare vintage clip-on earrings by Ilias Lalaounis, Greece, 1970, crafted in two tones: central medallions in solid 18K yellow gold framed by solid .925 sterling silver, both with high polish. Centers feature highly defined crabs in high relief, alluding to ancient Akragas coins from Sicily. Diameter 35 mm (1.38 in), total weight 27.20 grams. Fitted with hinged omega backs; posts can be added for pierced ears. Stamped with Lalaounis monogram, workshop mark A21, Greek gold and silver assay marks, and signed “LALAOUNIS A21 .750 GREECE.”
