This one-of-a-kind Shakudo necklace, crafted in Japan during the Meiji period (circa 1910), is a stunning blend of artistry and history. Made in 14k yellow gold with a brushed finish, it features blackened patinated bronze (niiro) and 24k chiseled gold. The necklace incorporates 20 fan-shaped Menuki elements, depicting organic motifs such as birds, trees, and plants, repurposed from antique Japanese swords from the Edo period (1603–1864). Weighing 59.5 grams, the necklace measures 18 inches in length, with each fan-shaped element sized at 29 mm by 19 mm (1.14 x 0.75 inches). Though unmarked, it has been electronically tested for 14k and 24k gold. This extraordinary piece showcases the exceptional Shakudo technique, combining historical craftsmanship with timeless elegance.
