English Antique Lover's eye portraits miniature brooches.
circa 1840-50.
The charming oval-shaped portrait miniature is mounted in a 14k yellow Gold repoussé frame with a pin back with a leaf design on each side. The portrait is of a woman's right eye. Dimensions: 1.4 x 1.2 inches. Total weight: 11.7 grams.
The charming square-shaped portrait miniature is mounted in a 10k yellow Gold and silver repoussé frame with a pin back with 10 cabochon Garnets on the sides. The portrait is of a woman's eyes. Dimensions: 0.9 x 0.7 inches. Total weight: 3.9 grams.
Eye miniatures or Lovers' eyes were Georgian miniatures, normally watercolour depicting the eye or eyes of a spouse, loved one or child. These were usually commissioned for sentimental reasons and were often worn as bracelets, brooches, pendants or rings with richly decorated frames
Good conditions. Upon Request, Auction House may provide an appraisal. This will carry an additional cost. Appraisals are made by our in house GIA certified Gemologist.
